Jeff Brannon, vice president of business development at Flowers Hospital, has been awarded the Alabama Hospital Association’s Gold Medal of Excellence, the association’s highest honor.

The recognition was presented during the association’s annual meeting on June 5, 2026.

The Gold Medal of Excellence is reserved for individuals whose leadership, service and contributions have left a lasting impact on health care in Alabama. The Alabama Hospital Association Board of Trustees said it awarded Brannon the honor in recognition of his leadership, advocacy and lifelong commitment to advancing health care in the state.

Brannon’s health care career spans more than 35 years, beginning as an orderly and later as a cardiovascular intensive care nurse before moving into executive leadership roles at hospitals across Alabama. He has served as chief executive officer of Flowers Hospital, Medical Center Enterprise, Monroe County Hospital and Wiregrass Medical Center.

“For more than two decades, Brannon has been a driving force in Alabama health care,” the association said.

Brannon has served multiple terms on the Alabama Hospital Association Board of Trustees, including as board chair. He also served as an Alabama delegate to the American Hospital Association, chair of AlaHA’s Workforce Task Force and chair of HOSPAC. He has helped lead workforce initiatives that expanded opportunities for health care professionals and strengthened Alabama’s hospital workforce pipeline.

“Many health care leaders make an impact within their own organizations. Jeff’s impact extends across an entire state,” said Danne Howard, president and CEO of the Alabama Hospital Association. “For more than 20 years, he has been a trusted leader, tireless advocate and mentor whose work has strengthened hospitals, expanded workforce opportunities and improved health care for communities throughout Alabama. He has never sought recognition, but he has earned the respect of everyone who has had the privilege to work alongside him.”
