Thomas White has Died

Friday, January 20, 2017 Alabama Governor Robert Bentley (R) released a statement on the death of State Comptroller Thomas L. White, Jr.

Gov. Bentley said. “I am saddened to learn of the death of State Comptroller Thomas L. White, Jr. Just a few days ago, I spoke with his family and my thoughts and prayers are with him. Tom passed away yesterday, from a brief illness. For more than four decades, Tom has been a great public servant of the state of Alabama. Prior to being appointed State Comptroller, Tom served as the Chief Financial Officer at the Alabama Department of Public Health for 22 years as well as CFO for the Alabama Public Health Care Authority for 15 years. I really appreciate Tom’s dedication to Alabama, he will be truly missed.”

Tom was born in Prattville, Alabama, on June 6, 1949. For more than four decades White served the State of Alabama.

Tom was on the Executive Committee for the National Association of State Auditors, Comptrollers, and Treasurers (NASACT) and was also the President-elect of the National Association of State Comptrollers (NASC).

Services will be held at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 23, 2017. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Thomas Lawrence White, Jr. is survived by his wife of 34 years, Jane White and four daughters; Kelli Golden (Wes), Jessica McDaniel, Christie Riley (Rick), and Tori White. He is also survived by four granddaughters and one grandson. Tom is survived by a brother, Emmett (Debbie) White, and two brother-in-laws, Tim (Rebecca) McCartha and Pat (Joyce) McCartha along with six nephews, their spouses, and children.
