Governor Kay Ivey on Wednesday hosted the 144 Correctional Officer Trainees set to graduate from the Alabama Department of Corrections Academy.
This graduating class is the largest group on record, and the governor was proud to commend Commissioner John Hamm and his staff for this achievement. After welcoming the graduates to the Mansion, the governor offered her sincerest thanks and congratulations to the group.
The Governor issued the following comment:
“These 144 men and women are stepping up to answer the call to protect our Corrections facilities and our communities, and on behalf of the state of Alabama, I am proud to thank them and congratulate them. I am thrilled to see the largest class on record and proud we continue strongly recruiting these public servants. Alabama backs the blue, and no doubt, that includes our Corrections Officers.”
The 144 Correctional Officer graduates gave the governor much thanks for what she does for the state and for her crucial support that she provides the ADOC. Thursday, April 3 at 10:30 a.m., the 144 COTs graduated at the Montgomery campus of Church of the Highlands. The trainees satisfactorily completed 10 consecutive weeks of training to obtain Alabama Peace Officers’ Standard and Training Commission certification and become Correctional Officers.
