Cullman City Councilman Clint Hollingsworth has officially entered the race for the Alabama House of Representatives District 12 seat, announcing his candidacy on Monday, May 5. The special election was triggered by the resignation of former Rep. Corey Harbison on April 16, after failing to appear for legislative sessions in recent years.
“I am running for the Alabama House of Representatives because I believe our community deserves an experienced leader who will fight to get us a seat at the table,” Hollingsworth said in a campaign announcement. “I am excited about the opportunity to make a difference in Cullman County and will do this through teamwork, open communication, transparency, and building consensus. I’m ready to get to work and fight for District 12.”
Hollingsworth emphasized his commitment to improving the quality of life for families and businesses in Cullman County.
“As a small business owner, I understand the challenges our families and businesses face. I know what it’s like to juggle family and work while worrying about making ends meet. I’m running for State Representative to ensure that our district has a strong, conservative voice in the legislature and that we work to create solutions to improve the lives of all Cullman County residents,” he said.
In his campaign, Hollingsworth has pledged a common-sense, conservative approach to governance. He said he values strong, ethical, and informed leadership and plans to bring those principles to Montgomery.
“I commit to serve the people of Cullman County with integrity and be a strong conservative voice in Montgomery,” Hollingsworth said. “I care deeply for this community and will always put the needs of my constituents first.”
A Cullman native, Hollingsworth graduated from Cullman High School, attended Wallace State Community College, and earned a bachelor’s degree from Athens State University. He owns D1 Motor Cars, a business that specializes in unique, hard-to-find vehicles. Prior to launching his company, he managed College Tire in Hanceville.
He and his wife, Leslie (York), have five children—one of whom lives on in memory—and are expecting their first grandchild this month. The family is active in their church, Grace Chapel.
The special Republican primary election for House District 12 is scheduled for July 15. If necessary, a runoff will be held August 12, with the general election set for October 28. Hollingsworth is the first Republican to declare his candidacy for the seat.
