The Alabama Farmers Federation announced Friday its endorsement of Mike Elliott for Alabama House District 13, which encompasses much of Walker County and includes the city of Jasper.

“Mike Elliott has been an educator and a businessman, so he knows the needs of this district,” said Dorman Grace, president of the Walker County Farmers Federation. “With his varied experience, he will be a true asset in the Legislature.”

Elliott received his B.S. in social science and post-graduate education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He has taught at three high schools, including Walker County High School and Curry High School. He currently teaches in Walker County’s 180 Program. He has coached multiple sports. Elliott also owns a lawncare company with his son, Brandon.

“It is an honor to receive the endorsement of the farmers of Walker County,” said Elliott. “We share the same work ethic and conservative ideals. I’m ready to go to work to represent this district in Montgomery.”

Elliott and his wife of 42 years, Brenda, have one son and two grandsons. They attend Saragossa Forest Baptist Church where he has been the Sunday School director for 10 years.

The Alabama Farmers Federation is the state’s largest farm organization with more than 365,000 members. It uses a grassroots approach to select candidates, relying on Alabama FarmPAC endorsements from county Federation boards of directors for local elections.
