The city of Birmingham will host the National League of Cities’ 2026 Summer Conference for the National Black Caucus of Local Elected Officials from July 15-18, according to a recent announcement from the organization.

The conference, themed “Rooted in Community, Delivering Together: Black Local Leaders in Action,” will bring together local leaders from across the country to exchange ideas, strengthen partnerships and discuss issues affecting communities nationwide.

Programming will focus on leadership development, economic opportunity, housing, public safety, civic engagement and strategies for delivering results for residents.

The event will take place at the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex and will feature opening remarks from Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin.

“Local governments are on the front lines of addressing many of the nation’s most pressing challenges,” National League of Cities officials said in a statement. “The NBC-LEO Summer Conference provides an opportunity for Black local leaders to share innovative solutions, learn from one another and strengthen the partnerships that help communities thrive.”

“As the host city for this year’s conference, the City of Birmingham serves as an important backdrop for conversations about leadership, community investment and the future of local government,” organizers said.

More information and the full conference agenda are available on the National League of Cities’ website.
