Marsh Re-elected President Pro Tem

MONTGOMERY—By a unanimous vote in the Alabama Senate, Senator Del Marsh (R-Anniston) was re-elected President Pro Tem during the first day of the 2015 Organizational Session. He was immediately sworn in by Lt. Governor Kay Ivey.

This will be Marsh’s second term as President Pro Tem.

Marsh said he was honored by the decision. “I was pleased today to see it was a bipartisan effort. This is what I wanted to see to start this off.”

He said the the Senate has a lot of work for the State to be done over the next four years. He said, “It is important to remember that is our job here. It’s important to work together. And I think that got started today.”

Also, Pat Harris was unanimously re-elected as Secretary of the Senate. This will also be Harris’ second term. He was elected after the retirement of McDowell Lee became effective on February 1, 2011.
