The Alabama Associated General Contractors Political Action Committee announced Monday its endorsement of Rick Pate for Lieutenant Governor.
“In recognition of the important role that governmental affairs plays to our members, Alabama AGC believes that electing individuals like Pate, who understand our issues, is vital to the success of the commercial construction industry and ensuring the voices of our members are heard at the local, state, and federal levels,” the group said in a release.
The PAC said that Rick Pate is no stranger to the commercial construction industry. After founding Pate Landscape Company in 1982, Pate spent the next 38 years on job sites across the state. During this time, he was an active member of AGC and served in various leadership roles, including his 2015 term as president of Alabama AGC and his appointment to “Life Governor” with AGC of America. In 2022, Pate was inducted into the Alabama Construction Hall of Fame for his commitment to the industry.
“Rick worked diligently in his time in leadership with Alabama AGC to make our organization the best in the state,” said Greer Walker, current president of Alabama AGC. “We know he will continue this strong pursuit of excellence as he takes on the role of Lt. Governor for Alabama.”
Billy Norrell, CEO of Alabama AGC, added, “Rick has always been a champion for Alabama AGC, both as a past chair of our organization and throughout his tenure as Commissioner of Agriculture and Industries. We are proud to endorse him in the race for Lt. Governor and look forward to working with him as he takes on this new role for Alabama.”
Upon learning of the endorsement, Rick Pate said, “The endorsement of Alabama AGC so early is a big deal to me. I made a good living and career in the landscape and irrigation construction industry. Their values of hard work, free enterprise with limited taxes, and fewer government regulations align with my values. I appreciate the men and women in the construction industry and their hard work to keep Alabama building and growing.”
