The city of Montgomery said this week that it and Montgomery County will soon launch the Montgomery Thriving Small Business Grant Program, funded through the American Rescue Plan Act, to support small businesses across the region.
The program will help local businesses expand, stabilize and strengthen daily operations, with funding aimed at promoting economic growth and supporting long-term success.
Business owners can sign up for updates online.
The program website is scheduled to launch May 4. Applications will open May 11 and close June 15.
The city said information sessions will be held May 9, May 17, May 26, June 1 and June 3. Some sessions will be virtual, while others will be in person. Locations and times for some events have not yet been announced. Virtual sessions also will offer an optional in-person viewing site.
The city said applicants also will be able to receive one-on-one help from grant specialists.
To qualify, businesses must have 1 to 50 employees, generate less than $5 million in annual revenue, operate as a for-profit business in good standing and be located in Montgomery or Montgomery County. Businesses also must show economic hardship or business need, be current on taxes or have an approved payment plan, and agree to remain in Montgomery or Montgomery County for at least one year after receiving funding.
When the website goes live May 4, business owners will be able to complete an eligibility assessment, review application instructions, access the grant application, read program guidelines, browse frequently asked questions and sign up for technical assistance.
