Troy University has named Steve Grice interim dean of the Sorrell College of Business.
Grice, a Troy alumnus and former director of the university’s William H. Carr School of Accountancy, succeeds Judson Edwards, who was named Troy’s interim senior vice chancellor for academic affairs and provost.
Edwards congratulated Grice on the new position and thanked him for coming out of retirement to serve the university.
“Steve Grice and I share an enduring connection to Troy University, not only as longtime colleagues, but also as proud alumni who care deeply about its continued success,” Edwards said. “Grice has excelled as both a faculty member and administrator, but even more important than his professional accomplishments, Steve is a first-class person with an unwavering commitment to serving our students, faculty, staff and university.
“I am grateful for his willingness to pause his retirement to serve as interim dean of the Sorrell College of Business, and I know he will provide thoughtful and trusted leadership during this important time of transition,” Edwards said.
Grice expressed gratitude for the opportunity to help Troy navigate the leadership transition.
“I am excited about the opportunity to serve as interim dean for the Sorrell College of Business,” Grice said. “The achievements within the college under Edwards’ leadership over the last 16 years have been tremendous. I am humbled and honored to be a part of this leadership transition with my alma mater.”
In addition to his previous role directing Troy’s School of Accountancy, Grice served as the school’s Botts Professor of Accounting and taught as a professor of accounting at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Grice is a certified public accountant who serves as a scholar-in-residence for the accounting firm Carr, Riggs & Ingram LLC.
In 2016, Governor Robert Bentley appointed Grice to the Alabama State Board of Public Accountancy. He was assigned to the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy Education Committee in 2019. In 2020, he served on the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants Board of Examiners.
Grice’s appointment became effective July 1.
