Sewell to announce major funding for Birmingham, Montgomery

This funding is part of the $42.8 million for local projects in Alabama’s 7th Congressional District.

This week, U.S. Rep. Terri Sewell, AL-07, will announce major funding that she secured for the City of Birmingham and City of Montgomery. This funding is part of the $42.8 million that Rep. Sewell secured in the Fiscal Year 2023 federal government funding package for local projects in Alabama’s 7th Congressional District. 

On Monday, October 30 at 12 p.m. CT, Rep. Sewell will be joined by Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin and City Council President Darryl O’Quinn to announce $4 million that she secured for the Valley Creek Rails to Trails project. Funding will be used to redevelop and construct a 4.57-mile recreation and transportation project for low-income city residents.

On Tuesday, October 31 at 9:30 a.m. CT, Rep. Sewell will be joined by Montgomery Mayor Steven Reed to announce $4 million that she secured for the City of Montgomery to redevelop blighted properties and revitalize neighborhoods that have historically seen a lack of investment opportunities.
