The League of Women Voters of Alabama has announced a public meeting planned for the Northwest Alabama community on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at 5:30 p.m., at the Florence-Lauderdale Public Library at 350 N. Wood Ave to provide information about the League of Women Voters’ mission, along with their many projects and activities.

“The League of Women Voters is a non-partisan, all volunteer, grassroots organization committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion; fair, accessible, and secure elections; government ethics, accountability, and transparency. We promote political responsibility and advocacy through informed and active participation of Alabamians with their local, state, and federal governments,” the League stated.

At this meeting, LWV members living in Northwest Alabama will come together and vote on organizing a new League At Large to serve the citizens of Lauderdale, Colbert, Franklin, and Lawrence Counties. “If you live in this part of the state and are interested in making Democracy work in Alabama, please attend this meeting for more information and consider joining the League of Women Voters!” the group encouraged.
