Alicia Escott Lumpkin, a candidate for Alabama House District 60, received an endorsement this week from the Jefferson County chapter of the Alabama New South Alliance.

The group said its endorsement reflects Lumpkin’s positions on issues including working families, voting rights and community engagement.

“I am incredibly honored to receive the endorsement of the Alabama New South Alliance,” Lumpkin said. “Their work has been critical in advocating for everyday people and expanding civic engagement across our communities. To have their support means a great deal, and I look forward to working alongside them to continue building a stronger, more inclusive Alabama.”

Lumpkin, a Birmingham native and public servant, has focused her campaign on economic opportunity, health care access, neighborhood investment and government responsiveness.

“This endorsement is about trust,” Lumpkin said. “It’s about showing up, listening, and delivering for the people of District 60.”

Her campaign also cited support from Representative Curtis Travis, the Business Council of Alabama, the Jefferson County Farmers Federation, For the Future Victory Fund, Mayor Randall L. Woodfin of Birmingham, the Alabama Young Democrats, the Alabama College Democrats, the UAB College Democrats and former Senator Sandra Escott Russell.

The endorsement adds to a list of political, business and civic supporters in the House District 60 race.
