Ivey’s doctor writes that she is in “excellent health”

Kay Ivey’s GOP rivals have released their medical records and have been questioning the governor’s health. On Wednesday, the Ivey campaign released a letter from her doctor stating that she is in excellent health.

Dr. Brian W. Elrod wrote, “Governor Ivey has had physicals for the last fifteen years, and she is in excellent health.”

Ivey’s campaign said in a statement, “Today’s letter from Governor Kay Ivey’s longtime doctor shows that she has undergone all annual physicals and recommended exams and is in “excellent health.”

Ivey’s campaign Manager Mike Lukach said: “Sorry to ruin your misguided publicity stunt, but we’re confident you’ll find new ones. Meanwhile, Governor Ivey is going to stay focused on fighting for her conservative agenda to keep Alabama working.”

“I see no medical issues that would keep her from performing her duties as Governor,” Dr. Elrod concluded. Elrod said that not only has Governor Ivey had her physicals; but she also, “Has undergone all recommended specialist evaluations to ensure a thorough health assessment.”

Ivey, 73, if elected this fall, would be the oldest governor in the history of Alabama.

Her opponents have suggested that Kay is not in good health; but has not produced any evidence that there is any cause for concern. The letter from Dr. Elrod suggests that there is no cause for concern.
