Governor Kay Ivey on Tuesday shared the heartbreaking news of the passing of Justin Williams, a member of her security detail, who succumbed to cancer at the age of 42. Williams, a veteran state trooper, was set to mark 19 years of service on Wednesday.

In a heartfelt statement, Governor Ivey expressed her sorrow and paid tribute to Williams’ dedication and professionalism.

“Today, we lost a member of our team, Justin Williams. Justin has served on my security detail since 2019, and tomorrow would have marked 19 years of service as a state trooper,” Ivey stated. “Justin was a professional in every sense of the word. He was effective, worked well with his colleagues, my staff, and me. Truly, he was a real gentleman.”

Williams was known not only for his dedication to public service but also for his warm personality and sense of humor. The governor remarked that his presence would be deeply missed by those who knew him.

“This Earth will be a little less bright – and funny – without Justin, but I am confident he is at peace with God in Heaven,” Governor Ivey added. “My prayers are with his family, especially his daughter. God bless, Justin! He was a faithful public servant until the end.”

Williams, who held a Bachelor of Science degree along with two master’s degrees from Faulkner University, was widely respected for his commitment to law enforcement and his community. His nearly two decades of service as a state trooper and his role on the governor’s security detail reflected his dedication to protecting and serving the people of Alabama.

Governor Ivey’s office extended condolences to Williams’ family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time. Williams leaves behind a legacy of honor and service, and his contributions to the state will not be forgotten.
