On Saturday, May 24 the Civil Rights Memorial Center, a project of the Southern Poverty Law Center, and 21 Dreams Art and Culture host the second annual Art is Activism Community Block Party, “which will turn storytelling into a shared journey of reflection, expression, and celebration. Get ready for a vibrant day filled with free food (until it runs out), live music, powerful poetry, and cultural performances—plus meaningful conversations on civic engagement and wellness. Attendees can also showcase their creativity through a collaborative art project supporting community activism,” the group shared.
The event will include a lineup of featured artists, community partners and special guests—including resident artist Yolanda ‘Yogi’ Carter, “the soulful rhythms of Jonathan Michael and Souled Out Groove, the stirring poetry of Yogi Dada, over ten gifted visual artists from the River Region, the wellness-driven Mothers of Gynecology and more.”
