Doug Jones to host community town hall in Huntsville

The former senator will field unscreened questions at Campus 805 as his statewide tour brings no-topic-off-limits conversations to the Rocket City.

On Wednesday, July 29, Doug Jones will take unscreened questions at Campus 805, 2620 Clinton Avenue West in Huntsville, beginning at 5 p.m. CDT. The campaign said the event is free and open to “Democrats, Republicans, independents, and everybody in between. No script. No topics off limits,” Jones’ press release shared.

“Huntsville is helping shape Alabama’s future, and Doug Jones believes the people building that future deserve a governor who will listen. That’s why he’s bringing his statewide Town Hall Tour to the Rocket City,” Jones’ release also stated.

Jones said he has long believed Huntsville’s success is central to Alabama’s future. As a U.S. senator, he pushed the Department of Defense to locate U.S. Space Command’s headquarters at Redstone Arsenal, writing directly to Pentagon leadership and making the case for Huntsville until his final weeks in office. Redstone Arsenal was ultimately selected as the permanent headquarters location for U.S. Space Command, bringing roughly 1,400 military and civilian personnel to the Rocket City.

Huntsville’s rapid growth brings both opportunities and challenges. Jones said he is coming to hear directly from the people of Madison County and answer questions about “affordability, education, infrastructure, data centers and his vision for Alabama.”

“If you’re asking Alabamians to trust you as their governor, the least you can do is answer their questions,” Jones said. “That’s what these town halls are about.”
