2022 Alabama Elections

Based on information compiled by Lyons Law Firm

Alabama voters will head to the polls this year in Democratic and Republican primaries, and later in the general election, to elect new representatives to a number of positions. Those include state representatives, state senators, members of the U.S. Congress, U.S. Senate, State Board of Education, Alabama Supreme Court, and statewide constitutional offices. Voters will also vote on several proposed constitutional amendments.

 

Party primary elections will be on Tuesday, May 24, 2022, with primary run-off elections on Tuesday, June 21, 2022. The general election will be on Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2022.

 

Below are the candidates for the offices, sorted by the offices for which they are running, and their party.

AMENDMENTS

MAY 24, 2022 AMENDMENTS

Authorizing the issuance and sale of general obligation bonds up to $85 million for the improvement, renovation, equipping, acquisition, provision, construction, and maintenance of state parks.

NOVEMBER 8, 2022 AMENDMENTS

To require reasonable bail in all cases, except for offenses enumerated by the Legislature by general law (Aniah's Law).

Municipalities may levy and collect ad valorem tax to pay debt.

To require legislation affecting elections to be passed at least 6 months prior to the general election.

To delete Probate Courts' general jurisdiction over orphans' business.

There will also be 24 local constitutional amendments on the general election ballot.
